A forest property can become a real "mess" as natural debris accumulates when dead branches and needles fall, and trees become overcrowded through new growth. It's in your best interest to clean it up to keep the forest healthy, to prevent wildfire, and simply to improve your property.
If this is your first attempt at cleaning up, the task may appear to be a huge undertaking. Think of it as just the beginning of the trail. Start with the following steps, then plan reasonable goals to meet each year based on an overall assessment of your property.
Step 1: Collect fallen debris, cut trunks and limbs into 6 feet or less lengths.

Step 2. Load debris into truck or trailer - TIE IT DOWN - a small branch dropped in the road can impale the tire of the next car behind you $$$$

Pile your load full and high, but DO NOT allow branches to hang over the sides or ends.
Tie and cover it to prevent slash from falling on the roads.

Step 3. Haul to the Slash-Mulch site Click for this year's schedule.
A volunteer will greet you at the site entrance and direct you to the best location to unload. You may give the site volunteer your donation or Care & Share items when you enter or as you leave.
The volunteer will also ask you to complete an Information Sheet (if you have not already done so). The data collected on this form allows us to evaluate why residents are using the site, how they use the mulch, and to identify volunteers to help at the site.
